Welcome to Fiber Charmer.
I'm a knitter for whom knitting was a gateway craft into dyeing and spinning.
I'm attracted to finer yarns and tiny needles, which is why you will find many fingering and laceweight
yarns in my store. I have been experimenting with worsteds and bulkies, but my true love is fingering weight.
I took my first dyeing classes from Gale, of Gale's Art, in order to better understand the yarns I was selling
when I worked in a LYS. I could parrot the dye descriptions, but I wanted to know why no 2 skeins of
Malabrigo looked alike. I was fascinated to see that dyes didn't behave at all like the acrylic or oil paints
I'd used when I was younger. Every day working with dyes leads to new discoveries, both good and not so good.
Please join me on this journey of exploration of how dyes and fibers interact.
